High Performance Computing and Data Analysis

Developments in proteomics, microscopy, DNA and RNA sequencing, are producing ever larger quantities of data. Maximizing the benefits of these large quantities of data provides new challenges. The High Performance Computing Service, located in the College of Life Sciences, is responsible for maintaining reliable and secure data networking, storage, and computational infrastructure. The state-of-the-art computing infrastructure, built and maintained by Dr. Jonathan Monk and his team, allows researchers to access the computing power they need while the Data Analysis Group, directed by Professors Geoff Barton, Angus Lamond and Julian Blow, provides a critical mass of informatic, statistical and mathematical expertise to help scientists convert their data into meaning.
